The boat trip

Boat Trip pictures now online! Follow this link!

Tickets sold out! We are only able to offer a limited number of tickets for the boat trip in advance, in case of bad weather. We will be selling a number of additional tickets at the conference site on the day of the trip if the weather is good. These will be sold on a first come first served basis.

This joint meeting is IAREP's main conference for 2011, so of course there must be a boat trip.  Besides, Exeter stands on the beautiful River Exe - the city is where it is because it was the lowest point of the river at which it could be forded and, later, bridged.

Although the river is fairly short (it rises on Exmoor, about 60Km north) it is powerful, and its estuary is a broad ria, formed by the dropping of the land over geological time.  We are aiming to provide a sociable evening trip, with food, on the tidal part of the estuary from the nearby coastal town of Exmouth.  Birdwatchers will want to bring binoculars.  There will be a small extra charge.
